Fairly expensive. I was in town for a conference, and thought I'd treat myself to a nice meal. A friend had recommended it. When I arrived at the bar, there were plenty of seats, but they seemed short staffed. It took a while for staff to clean the bar top so I could sit. It got very noisy and crowded quickly. Although it's popular and the food is good, the service was slow, and not warm and welcoming like many of the restaurants I visited during my business trip.

Those is a great place to eat. It has a wine bar set up, slightly dem lighting, and the service was excellent. I asked the bartender is they had lemonade and she stated they could make. And I'll be...she made me lemonade from freshly squeezed lemons. It was lovely. I had the cheese burger and added bacon, lettuce and tomatoes to it. It was delicious. You could taste the quality of the meat. That with their signature ketchup on the burger made me a fan for life.

The new menu is wonderful as it leans into southern tastes and traditions. Still great service, comfortable spaces. Loud yeah but not distracting. Lots of folks are just enjoying themselves. Certainly my fav place before an event at the Woodward Concert Hall. If you try anything to go with the cocktails, do the pimento cheese app and the Sea Island red peas. BTW the shrimp and grits are among the region's best.

Public House is a term going to medieval ages in Roman Britain, a reference for a household that made really good beer and sold it to the public. The English common law also set forth a set of regulations around this definition, requiring them to be of good upkeep and receive travelers. Holeman and Finch is a neat re-interpretation of the idea of a Pubic House, opening 15 years ago in a location on the edge of Buckhead. It was a place that arguably transformed Atlanta's dining, with inventive cocktails and a menu that was almost too cool for its time, with a decent part of it dedicated to animal parts. Back in the day, it was inventive bartenders like Greg Best and the creative owners Linton and Gina Hopkins that made it a consistently overbooked spot that the entire city would crave. Now, things have changed. It is still serving many items that align to the concept of a Public House, such as the Welsh Rabbit and Scotch Woodcock. A few organ meats are also still available, such as veal brains, yet reduced in quantity of options. But, in the old location where H&F along with their excellent bread became an icon, the thing that it was known for is The Burger. It was a marketing genius that served burgers at only a specific hour of the night until they run out, with the narrow supply driving up demand. Many would reference it as the best burger in the city in the 2010s. Nowdays, it's available all the time. The burger here is indeed phenomenal, representing a very pure and quality expression of an American classic. Do not compare it to burgers made at their fast food outpost in Ponce City Market, come here for the real deal. The veal brains were also not prepared very well here, somewhat on the rough side. The Welsh rabbit is a remarkable bread and cheese dish. It certainly does not skimp on the fat and provides a spectacular lining for the incoming booze. Speaking of...the wine list here is decent, but limited. The great thing is that wines are priced fairly, mostly at 2x up charge to retail, thus making H&F a reasonable place to grab a bottle. Plentiful beer and hard liquor selections are available also. To say that Holeman and Finch is welcome back to Atlanta is an understatement as it is an establishment that defined gastropub, whole animal style dining in the city, before most people started using that term. There is some hope that some of the creativity that made H&F famous in the first place begins to resurface a bit more, nonetheless a classic is a classic.

We were looking for something different, and H&F checked all the boxes. The ambiance was so cozy-- somewhat of a dark walnut-leather-hunt club kind of vibe. Almost expected someone to whip out a cigar here. Service was great. Reservations are recommended on the weekends for sure. You can probably get away without one earlier in the week. There is underground parking underneath Colony Square-- entrance is off of 14th street. They also validate parking, so bring your ticket with you! For starters, we ordered the braised white peas and fried oysters and pickles. The fried oysters and pickles were so good! The red remoulade really elevated the dish. There were "house rolls" as well that come from The Buttery. The pickles that accompanied the rolls were so addictive! For the entrees, we ordered the cheeseburger for sure. This is definitely the golden child on the menu (almost every table had a burger). It wasn't completely a smash burger, but it sure had all the elements of one. The buns were toasty and buttery. The melty cheese oozed everywhere. The patties were crispy and locked in the juices. A burger to indulge in for sure! The fries weren't crispy, but they were still good. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience.

I gotta start with, as much as I'm on Colony Square... i never noticed Holeman and Finch. Tucked away in the corner across from Saints+ Council, Holeman and Finch is a solid experience. I remember the original Holeman and Finch and the limited Burger Time spectacle. Several burger spots and a new sit down resturant later...the Cheeseburger is still amazing. Had a reservation and was quickly sat in the cozy dining room. Had the cheeseburger and the Crunchy Gentleman. The crunchy gentleman is like a Cuban and a fancy grilled cheese. It was tasty the mustard was a little tangier than I like but it was worth a try. Get your parking validated, walk around and enjoy the area.
